HISTORY

IT’S TIME FOR

NATIONAL MUSEUM

Opened in 1999, this flagship museum traces the full arc of Arabian history—from prehistoric times and major ancient civilizations, through the rise of Islam, to the founding of the modern Saudi state. You'll explore eight thematic halls featuring artifacts, models, interactive displays, and life-sized dioramas that vividly illustrate the region’s cultural and historical journey.

SHUBRAH PALACE MUSEUM

Originally built between 1905–1907 by Sharif Ali Pasha as a royal summer residence, Shubra Palace later served as government offices and even witnessed the births of two sons of King Abdulaziz. In 1995 it was converted into a heritage museum showcasing Taif’s regional history. It features over 150 rooms across four floors, displaying Islamic manuscripts (including a Qur’an from the 7th century), antique weapons, Hijazi clothing, folk crafts, and tools used in rose‑water distillation. The palace itself is an architectural gem with Roman‑influenced columns and Islamic wooden lattice-work.
